Announcement
Dear EP mentors, members, volunteers and friends,
It is with pride, honor and excitement that I announce that Mr. STEWART BALLARD, an outstanding Hopkins graduate, now the Chief Commercial Consul of the Consulate General of the United States of America in Hong Kong, has kindly agreed to become EP's Honorary Sponsor.
Mr. Ballard's biography:
During his 17 years with the U.S. Department of Commerce, Mr. Stewart Ballard has helped U.S. exporters succeed in winning new business in India, Kuwait, the 15 Member States of the European Union and, most recently, in 35 Asia Pacific developing countries that are members of the Asian Development Bank. Stewart has worked especially closely with U.S. firms in the following sectors: high technology and professional business advisory services (India); energy (Kuwait); and environment, energy, transportation and healthcare (European Union & Asian Development Bank countries). During his assignment in Hong Kong from 2004 to 2008, Stewart will work with U.S.-based firms to help them take advantage of new business opportunities in Hong Kong, China and other Asian Pacific countries.
Stewart has received both the Bronze Medal and the Quarterly Star award from the International Trade Administration. His employment background includes eight years of private sector experience in intellectual property law; international banking; international freight forwarding; and import-export. His educational background includes a B.A. in Political Science (with honors) from the University of California at Berkeley; an M.A. in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS); and a J.D. from Tulane University. His educational background abroad includes graduate work at SAIS’ Bologna Center in Bologna, Italy; and graduate work (in French) on European Union law at the University of Nancy II in Nancy, France. Stewart has French, Italian and Mandarin Chinese language skills. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.

NEW Announcement (Sep 2005)
We are proud to announce that the CHINA CHAPTER of Educational Perspectives was formally established in September, 2005 --- at the Zijin High School --- the very school whose students we served in the summer of 2005. Our China Chapter at Zijin will host its first activity (English language programs) on October 23, 2005 at Xinzhi High School, another high school near the Zijin High School.
More chapters are in the course of being established, and announcements will be made from time to time.
NEW Announcement (Aug 2005)
This August (2005), Educational Perspectives sponsored, hosted and concluded the 2005 China Summer Camp. Volunteers from four (4) continents (America, Europe, Asia and Australia), and ten (10) universities and high schools around the world joined hands and served about 350 high schools students in an underprivileged part of the southern part of China by conducting English language, Recreational & Health Knowledge Programs (including HIV/AIDS and first aid). The experience was rewarding and valuable. Photos and information about the China Summer Camp have been posted on this website.
