How will you contribute to the 2007 Africa (Tanzania) Summer Service Camp?  What makes you stand out from the other volunteers that justifies the grant of sponsorship?

Educational Perspectives ("EP") is shouldering a heavy financial burden in funding its activities --- like sponsoring highly qualified volunteers like yourself to attend annual summer service camps overseas.  Where and how can EP obtain substantial funding or sponsorships?  Be concrete and specific.

All sponsorship applications are carefully reviewed in order to select volunteers who will represent EP in a positive and constructive manner. In our selection process, EP seeks out volunteers that not only attain top results, but also display our core values of teamwork, integrity, responsibility, enthusiasm, and service.

COMMITMENT LETTER 

By signing on this Form & Letter, I, on my behalf and, as the case may be, as the guardian on behalf of the above-named Applicant, agree, confirm, undertake and represent to Educational Perspectives (“EP”) as follows:-

that the information contained above are true and accurate;

that the Applicant is healthy in all respects and is not suffering from any illness or allergies, and is physically fit and able to complete all activities of the 2007 Africa (Tanzania) Summer Service Camp;

that the Applicant understands and accepts the health, safety and security risks and hazards associated with traveling and volunteering in Chennai, India, the 2007 Africa (Tanzania) Summer Service Camp, and other EP activities;

that the Applicant shall dutifully attend and complete the summer trip and all reasonable functions and duties as may be delegated to the Applicant by Educational Perspectives;

that the copyright (if any) of all programs, materials, and amendments and variations written, designed or contributed by the Applicant for or related to the 2007 Africa (Tanzania) Summer Service Camp or EP or any EP activity shall belong to EP;

that the Sponsorship Applicants (if they are JHU students) shall take lead (not just participation as an ordinary member) in at least one EP activity per semester (such as being the organizer of one tutoring workshop in Baltimore or being the organizer of a Spring Fair) for 2 consecutive semesters (excluding the summer), commencing from the Spring Semester 2007 or the Fall Semester 2007, the latest.;

that the deposit of $200 (if paid) payable by me to EP on lodging my Sponsorship Application shall only be returned to me upon my satisfactory completion of the 2007 Africa (Tanzania) Summer Service Camp;

that in the event of the Applicant failing to attend or complete the 2007 Africa (Tanzania) Summer Service Camp or otherwise fail or refuse to comply with the terms and conditions herein contained, the Applicant shall forthwith reimburse EP for the air-ticket and all other costs and expenses which EP and/or its donors or sponsors might have spent or incurred in relation to Applicant, and the $200 deposit (if paid) shall become absolutely forfeited by EP;

EP reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions and the dates and programs of its activities (including those of the 2007 Africa (Tanzania) Summer Service Camp) from time to time.

*Financial Need Proof usually refers to the financial aid papers, i.e. the form(s) one fills out when applying for financial aid AND the award letter.

For scholarship holders, please supply details of your scholarships: e.g. names, nature & description, amount(s) awarded & duration, whether need-based or merit based, etc.

Many scholarships are need-based, and their applicants would have filed applications disclosing their financial situation in much the same way as non-scholarship financial aids.

If you have none of the above information, please write and sign a letter (NOT email) telling us your financial situation, with figures (including income and expenditure).

EP TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Application & Deposit:

The application is only complete upon receipt by EP of a completed volunteer application (on-line or physical) and of a $200 deposit (“Deposit”).  In these Terms & Conditions, a “participant” means an applicant who has duly completed the application procedures.  The Deposit will be refunded to the participant after due completion of the EP trip. The deposit will be refunded if an applicant is not accepted/selected.

Cancellations and Refunds:

In cases when EP cancels the trip or otherwise elects (prior the start of the EP trip) to terminate participation of a participant, the Deposit will be refunded to the participant, or, subject to mutual agreement, carried over to a new EP trip.  EP reserves the right to terminate participation in the EP trip of any participant without being obliged to offer an explanation.
Where the participant cancels or withdraws on his/her own volition, the Deposit, together with all other payments he/she made in relation to the trip, will be forfeited.

EP Liability Waiver:

All participants are required to complete and submit a signed EP Liability Waiver prior to the start of the EP trip. Failure on the part of a participant to do so will result in termination by EP of his/her participation in the EP trip and forfeiture of Deposit.

Medical and Health Form:

All participants are required to complete and submit an EP Medical Form. Your health insurance information and required immunizations must be documented. Failure to submit a medical form may, at EP’s option, result in termination by EP of his/her participation in the EP trip and forfeiture of Deposit.

Travel Arrangements:

Volunteers are ultimately responsible for their own air. land and water travel (as may be required) to the meeting place or destination as designated by EP or the host organization.  EP will try to, but not obliged to, source for group ticket or travel discounts for the benefit of participants.  Participants are encouraged to travel together for greater safety.

Age Requirement:

Volunteers 18 years and older are welcome to participate in EP trip. A legal guardian must accompany volunteers 12 – 17 years of age.

 Agree the above terms and and understand that each applicant is required to deposit US$200 to demonstrate commitment to attend the trip.
